In a field where innovation is paramount, we stand out not just for our advancements but also for our commitments to building a vibrant and inclusive company culture. We are dedicated to empowering and championing our workforce, employees are not merely contributors but integral members of a tight-knit community.

We're delighted to introduce the outstanding individuals that make up the SilverRail team. Each team member contributes unique skills, dedication, and perspectives, playing a crucial role in the overall success of our organisation. This blog is an introduction to JD, VP of Product Management at SilverRail.

What do you do at SilverRail?

As Vice President of Product, I am responsible for all SilverRail’s products. I collaborate closely with the leadership team to craft the company's overall strategy, ensuring our product roadmap aligns with those goals. I work directly with my product teams to establish a clear vision, defining the products we build and the value they deliver to customers. I then lead the execution of this vision by creating a comprehensive strategy, guaranteeing our products not only meet customer needs but also support SilverRail’s broader business objectives.

What are you most excited about in your role?

The convergence of European rail liberalisation, growing eco-consciousness, and the challenge of urbanisation is creating a transformative era for the rail industry. This rare opportunity allows us to develop sustainable solutions that benefit both people and the planet. For those passionate about innovation, it's an exhilarating time to be part of this positive change.

What’s the biggest challenge?

While I previously mentioned innovation as the most exciting aspect of my role in rail, it's certainly not without its challenges. Experience has shown me that innovation demands hard work and unwavering discipline. In today's environment, with new opportunities seemingly everywhere, my biggest challenge lies in helping the team maintain focus and a systematic approach.

Where do you see the future of rail?

The idea of seamless mobility truly excites me. I envision a future where people can navigate their cities effortlessly, utilising a network of eco-friendly transportation options. Imagine a system centred around a robust rail infrastructure, seamlessly integrated with other green modes like cycling and electric vehicles. This vision eliminates the hassle of juggling tickets and navigating complex transportation systems.

Describe what you were like at age 10.

I enjoyed taking toys apart to explore their inner workings and then attempting to put them back together. I'm sure I cost my parents a lot of money in the process.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I started gardening about four years ago. I love working with the soil and being outdoors, but there's also a unique satisfaction in doing everything you can to help a plant grow, with no guarantees of success. When the plants do thrive, it's an incredible joy.

Do you have any interesting facts about yourself?

I’m an avid football fan and a licensed US Soccer grassroots referee. I hope to advance through the referee pathway to the national level, where I can officiate professional matches and represent the U.S. on the national stage.
