Each team member contributes unique skills, dedication, and perspectives, playing a crucial role in the overall success of our organisation. This blog is an introduction to Clarice, Growth Director at SilverRail.
What do you do at SilverRail?
I am the Growth Director at SilverRail. My main goal is to bring in new business and to assist with the growth of our existing clients. We achieve this by making rail easy for our clients, maintaining a close relationship with our customers, and providing a tailored experience. We understand their pain points and needs with rail to deliver the best solution for them. Essentially, we are cultivating client loyalty and ensuring we deliver the best service and product in the market.
What are you most excited about in your role?
The most exciting aspect of my role is client interactions; talking to different people every day and learning from them. I also enjoy working with other departments internally to enhance our process and product to find the best solutions for our customers.
What’s the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is the rail industry. It is very regulatory, and sometimes it's hard to get a timely response. The carriers have a lot of decision-making power, which can sometimes be frustrating.
What is your rail background?
I have a 20-year background in the travel industry. I worked with rail providers in my last job and I have seen significant growth in this sector. I truly believe we are in the best time for rail.
Where do you see the future of rail?
Rail tends to be the best choice for travellers when possible- not only is it more comfortable, but it is also the greenest option. We also see a huge shift in traveller behaviour now, with more people conscious of travelling in more sustainable ways. Company policies, government incentives, and new competition are laying the foundation for a modernised change in this industry- it's very exciting to see.
What is the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I wouldn't say it was interesting, but it was an experience- when I was 25, I worked as a waitress at Brighton Pier. My English wasn't very good, and my vocabulary for spirits was very limited. I'm sure I disappointed quite a few customers!
Describe what you were like at age 10.
I remember being a very happy and curious kid, playing a lot outside and only worrying about what we would have for dinner. Great times!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I have two kids, so I don't have much spare time but when I do, I like to run, read and to enjoy a good bottle of wine. Over the past month, I have developed a new interest in puzzles as well.
Do you have any interesting facts about yourself?
I love martial arts and did capoeira for nine years. In my 40s, I started taekwondo, and today I am a purple belt aiming to become a black belt. Everything you learn on the mat, you can apply in daily life: values and discipline.
