SilverRail Journey Planner was one of the nine API’s made available for the THack Event in Singapore on 16-17 October, as part of the Web in Travel (WIT) conference. THack, a travel focused hackathon, is a competition where developers have 24 hours to build applications which include travel API’s. Our API powered the "Highly Commended" entry from Congregate and the entry from Sabre Pacific.
Two of the six apps developed included the SilverRail API in their application. The first entry by Congregate received a “highly commended” award from the judges. The Congregate app finds flight and hotel availability and prices, and then calculates the possible airport to city transfers with point-to-point directions on public transit provided by SilverRail Journey Planner. The second entry from Sabre Pacific used the SilverRail API to find locations of interest alongside Sabre’s Hotel Booking Engine API.
The overall competition winner was an application called Where is my travelling parent.
