We are thrilled to highlight the wonderful individuals we have at SilverRail. Each team member brings unique skills, dedication, and perspectives to the table, contributing to the overall success of our organisation. In this blog, we will shine a light on Graham Prickett, the Product Owner of the SilverRail Journey Planner, who has worked at SilverRail for over 16 years.

What do you do at SilverRail?

I am the Product Owner of the SilverRail Journey Planner (SJP) which is a multi-modal door-to-door public transport journey planner.

What are you most excited about in your role?

I enjoy the variety of work that as a Product Owner, I get to be involved in. There's a lot of different responsibilities that can fit within the remit of a Product Owner, such as meeting with customers, working with the development team to deliver functionality and assisting the commercial team on new opportunities to name a few. I love that no two days are the same!

What’s the biggest challenge?

Being based in Brisbane working on a product primarily used in the UK means it can be harder to feel immersed in the rail industry. However, whenever I come to the UK, I love how much attention the rail industry gets. It’s really interesting to see rail news regularly in the newspapers and to see lots of opinions on how the network should be run.

What is your rail background?

My career started as a software engineer writing rail crew scheduling software for SNCF and others. For the past 11 years at SilverRail I've been working as a software engineer on a variety of things: the IPTIS Data Management solution (IDMS) we supply for RDG, enhancements and support on the IPTIS journey planner. More recently my focus has been on the SilverRail Journey Planner.

What is the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I've tried my hand at sorting mail and pamphlet delivery. My first job out of University was at the Department of Defence doing analysis on helicopter refuelling and fighter jet tactics.

Describe what you were like at age 10.

Short, shy, ultra competitive, obsessed with tennis and cricket.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time outdoors and getting involved in activities such as camping, hiking and snorkelling. I am a keen tennis player and also enjoy playing frisbee golf when I can.
